Anna Okuda

Anna is a Japanese arts manager in Pittsburgh, U.S. As a daughter of a theater lover, Anna developed a passion for theater in her childhood. After earning her B.A. in theater and film studies from Waseda University, she started her career as a theater administrator in Tokyo. Over ten years, she managed tours, budgets, box office, and PR & marketing for over forty productions ranging from small, subsidized ones to large, commercial ones. To further develop her expertise in performing arts management, she enrolled in Master of Arts Management program at Carnegie Mellon University and earned her master’s degree in 2017. Currently, Anna helps performing artists and arts organizations develop audiences abroad.

Kanako Hiyama

Kanako is originally from Chiba, Japan, and currently resides in New York.  She obtained B.A. from Fort Lewis College, Colorado. While working at La MaMa E.T.C.’s administrative office, Kanako worked for numerous Off-off Broadway productions as director, costume designer and stage manager. She met Tom Lee through those productions, and was introduced to Master Koryu Nishikawa by Tom. Working as a production interpreter for their collaborative project “Shank’s Mare”, she became intrigued by the art of puppetry. She is now hoping to introduce the Japanese traditional puppetry to broader audiences.
